Though we have higher tolerance for pain than men, there are 2 things we definitely need help with: FEMININE ITCHING AND IRRITATION. These occurs during our " susceptible"days when there is a greater chance for vaginal infection.
What are "susceptible" days?
Though we many not know it, there are days when we are more susceptible to feminine itching and irritation ( during heavy secretions,menstruation,pregnancy,childbirth and menopause). These are the days when we go through several hormonal changes in our body, making us naturally susceptible to vaginal infection.
But itching and irritation do not only occur on susceptible days. When we are often exposed to the following factors, the chances of having itching and irritation are increased:
- Warm weather-perspiration builds up between our legs causing bacterial growth
- Clothing-pantyhose, tight jeans, gymwear,swimsuit,silk or nylon undergarments which don't allow air circulation
- Antibiotics-constant prolonged use in large doses will kill good bacteria that protect us from infection
- Contraceptive pill-certain orally taken pills create overgrowth of fungus
- Some scented feminine hygiene products may cause contact dermatitis for some ( sanitary napkins,toilet/tissue paper, pantyliners)
- Unclean water
- Improper hygiene habits( wiping from back to front; scratching, sharing personal products such as towels,undergarments)
A regular feminine wash or soap will only clean and refresh our private parts. But it many not be enough when there is already itching and irritation. What we should use is a feminine wash with antiseptic that kills germs which cause the itching and the irritation. It not only cleans but it disinfects the private part from possible infections. If a feminine wash is not immediately available during the itching, we can use 1 bottle cup of vinegar added to a hot water and use it to wash the private part.
