Your family doctor or pediatrician probably can treat mild allergies. But sometimes it's wise to consult an allergist, a doctor specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of asthma and other allergic diseases ( just like the tv drama HOUSE). You should see one if:
1. Your allergies cause other symptoms, such as chronic sinus and nasal congestion.
2. Your symptoms occur several months out of the year.
3. Medication doesn't control symptoms or the side effects bother you.
4. You struggle to get through daily activities and feel your quality of life is compromised.
5. You experience asthma, such as wheezing or coughing fits, particularly at night or after exercise, and a tightness in the chest.
We have our own Philippine Society of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology ( PSAAI ) You can visit their site for further information.
